It Starts With
the Hunt

For Steve, every board begins long before the workshop. It starts with the hunt — scouring local sawmills, visiting lumber yards, and chasing down leads on fallen trees with character. He's looking for that perfect slab: the walnut with cathedral grain, the spalted maple with lightning-bolt veining, the burl with figure you can't stop running your hand across.

Finding the right wood is half the joy. The other half is transforming it — shaping, sanding, and finishing each piece until it becomes something beautiful enough to display, yet rugged enough to use every single day. Every board is sealed with a food-safe finish and branded with Steve's signature logo — his mark of craftsmanship.

The hunt for the right piece of wood is just as rewarding as what I make from it. Every slab has a story — where the tree stood, how it fell, what the grain reveals. My job is to let that story come through.
